Two Americans died in the Alps air crash that killed 150 people, the chief executive officer of airline Germanwings has said.
The Airbus A320 crashed on Tuesday after an eight-minute rapid descent. There were no survivors.
US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told CNN they were working with the affected families but would not reveal any more details.
"Our hearts go out to the families of the victims," she said.
Germanwings chief executive Thomas Winkelmann said there were 72 Germans, 35 Spanish citizens and two Americans on board the flight that crashed in southern France, and the list was not yet complete.
