Italian tourist Alice Gruppioni, who was on her honeymoon, was struck and killed
A man who allegedly killed a woman and injured 16 others as his car ploughed into them on a Los Angeles beach has been charged with murder and assault.
Nathan Louis Campbell, 38, of Colorado, could face life in prison if convicted.
He drove a car into pedestrians after steering round a vehicle barrier on to the boardwalk at Venice Beach on Saturday evening, prosecutors said.
Thirty-two-year-old honeymooning Italian tourist Alice Gruppioni was struck by the Dodge Avenger and died.
Investigators believe the accused, who was arrested when he walked into a police station hours after the crash, had been driving his own vehicle.
He does not appear to have a fixed address, a California driver's licence or a job, according to reports.
On Tuesday, he was charged with one count of murder, 16 counts of assault with a deadly weapon and 17 counts of hit-and-run.
"I think we can safely say, when he turned himself in... he implicated himself in the Venice incident," said Police Cmdr Andrew Smith, according to the Associated Press.
Among those hit were at least three vendors, a fortune teller, a couple selling jewellery and a woman tattoo artist.
Flowers and cards were left in tribute at the spot where Ms Gruppioni was killed.
She was reported to be a general manager for her family's radiator business.
